Barley paper reels changed to reduce splicing stops
Longer reels for the pasting machine cut the number of splice stops per shift.

The pasting machine stopped each time a reel ran out, and each stop cost several cells in the feed path. Reels are now supplied longer for the 18650 format.
Splice quality was also tightened, since a misaligned splice causes the ring to sit off centre and the weld to land on the can edge.
